Public Seminar is the online publication of The New School. Each week, the magazine brings intellectual debate, academic research, and new writing to an international audience.
Public Seminar is pleased to offer eight student editor positions in the Spring 2026 Editorial Lab class (GPUB 6993, 3 credits). The class is a fast-paced practicum, suitable for students committed to developing their editorial skills at a professional level. Working closely with editors Evangeline Riddiford Graham, Natasha Lennard, and James E. Miller, students will assist in the production of the magazine. Alongside learning how to pitch, copyedit, edit, publish, and promote online content, students will be invited to write articles for Public Seminar.
Applications are now open. Graduate and advanced undergraduate students currently enrolled at The New School are eligible to apply.
In addition, we are pleased to offer credit-bearing scholarships to three applicants with a demonstrated interest in publishing who are currently enrolled at the New School for Social Research. The scholarship covers the cost of the course credits.
Applications should submit a letter of interest, a CV, and the name of a faculty reference to millerje@newschool.edu. Letters should specify if you wish to apply for the scholarship. The deadline for applications is November 5, 2025.
Finalists will be interviewed, via Zoom, by members of the Public Seminar team.
