PS Talks: An Interview with Klaus Bruhn Jensen

March 24, 2014Gisela Albuquerque Weise

This video is intended to be the first of a series called “PS Talks,” as part of the Public Seminar efforts “to provoke critical and informed discussion by any means necessary.”

Jeffrey Goldfarb interviews Klaus Bruhn Jensen, exploring problems surrounding Big Data and the questions of ethics in the new media age. The conversation took place as Professor Jensen was completing his term as a visiting scholar in the Sociology Department of the New School for Social Research. Along with conducting his own research during his stay at The New School, Jensen gave a couple of talks to the sociology department, which stimulated exciting discussions. He also contributed his illuminating essay “The Big Issue with Big Data: Who Do You Think I Am?” to Public Seminar. This interview explores further his thoughts. And as it happens, tomorrow, in Copenhagen, Goldfarb will be continue their discussion at a New School –University of Copenhagen Seminar: Media Systems and Social Systems: Comparative Perspectives on the Media in the U.S. and Scandinavia. – Gisela Albuquerque
